Challenge Nyon

Event-Location

The TORTOUR is the largest multi-day non-stop ultracycling event in the world. The race with start and finish in Zurich offers you three different distances. Ultra over 1,000 kilometers, Challenge over 580 kilometersand Sprint over 270 kilometers. The format of the Challenge consists not only of a start and finish in Zurich, but also in Nyon. So for the very first time, TORTOUR is coming to the Lake Geneva region. For this occasion, the “Tête de Course”, the bike café in the center of the city of Nyon and the organization of the TORTOUR have joined forces.

Riders in the first edition of the TORTOUR Challenge Nyon 2022 will cover 570 kilometers and climb 5,500 meters of altitude in 14 to 29 hours. Participation as an individual or as a team is possible. The CHALLENGE is attractive for top athletes, amateur athletes, team athletes and companies. The race takes place both during the day and at night – a great challenge for both the drivers and the participants. The CHALLENGE can be ridden accompanied or unaccompanied in all categories. Accompanied means that there is an escort vehicle that follows behind their riders and transports them when they are not racing. The unaccompanied complete the entire distance as a whole team and benefit from having an hour’s advantage over their accompanied competitors at the start in Nyon, changing riders at each “timing station.”

The categories:

  • Individual riders, teams with 2 and 3 riders and the TTT (Team time trial) category.
  • All categories can be ridden with or without an escort.
  • Categories men, women and mixed categories.

Timestation – place for changing riders:

  • Control and change stations (timestations) about every 50 kilometers.
  • In teams with escorts, only one rider is in action at a time, the others ride in the escort vehicle and change at the “timestations” (each after about 50 kilometers).
  • Exception: The first and the last stage will be done by the whole team together.
