Zurich by Bike

Anyone who thinks that Zurich is not suitable for cycling is very much mistaken. While new bike paths and routes are constantly being created in the city center, the recreational area around the city offers varied terrain. Whether gravel or downhill, using your own muscle power or at a more leisurely pace with an e-bike: Zurich has the right bike route for all conditions and for every level of riding ability.

Adrenaline and Strong Calves
Mud, dirt, tree roots, tight bends, and jumps: those who like single trails can find medium to challenging routes with jumps, hairpin bends, and rough and smooth sections on Zurich’s home mountain, the Uetliberg.

Zurich – the Gravel Hub
The gravel bike offers even more nature and freedom, as well as flexibility in the choice of route. It feels completely at home in places where the traditional road bike struggles – that is, away from surfaced roads. Ideal for exploring the wonderful region around Lake Zurich, the Zürcher Weinland with its vineyards, Winterthur, Baden or Zug, and excellent for enjoying long rides. Without interruption – unless a beautiful restaurant terrace entices you to stop for a bite to eat.

Bike Parks
If you want to test or demonstrate your freestyle skills, the Bikepark Allmend is the place to go: awaiting daredevils are a pumptrack with berms and rollers, an urban BMX track, a jumptrack, and even a loop track for young children with pedal-less balance bikes.

Leisurely Sightseeing
Those who prefer to take things easy and combine cycling with a spot of sightseeing should go on a guided e-bike tour in downtown Zurich. Thanks to the electrically generated power, the route can be mastered with a minimum of effort. The trained tour guides offer two tours – to Zurich’s tourist must-sees or alternatively to works of art in public spaces. Of course, you can also explore Zurich on two wheels on your own.
