TORTOURISTI Record breaking attempt

Herbert Zahner led the field of solo athletes in the Ultra 1’000 km category of TORTOUR Ultracycling 2020. Halfway to the finish came the sad news of the accident at the Oberalppass and the subsequent cancellation of the race.

New race with an ambitious goal

Simon Ruff, also a participant in this year’s TORTOUR, was Herbert’s competitor and had once set the record for the fastest crossing of Switzerland. Within 15 hours and 52 minutes, Ruff cycled from the easternmost point of Switzerland to the westernmost. Herbert now wants to crack this mark! According to the motto: “Never lose the joy of cycling.”

The record ride is monitored by the WUCA (World Ultracycling Association), the route choice between start and finish is freely selectable. Herbert’s record attempt will start on Saturday, 19th Septmeber at 5 p.m. in Martina GR. The exact route of Herbert can be found in the map below from our tracking partner Tractalis and during the record attempt Herbert’s progress can always be followed live. Also visible is the existing record of Simon Ruff.
