A cycling festival in the heart of Zurich and all over Switzerland

The TORTOUR Ultracycling 2021 is history.. A TORTOUR that offered its participants everything. Perfect weather, unforgettable emotions and for sure some sore muscles.

Back in daily life, many TOURTOURISTS are probably only now realising what they achieved last weekend. It was a hot affair and the routes were incredibly tough, as always. Patrick Müller, project manager of the TORTOUR, says: “All finishers can be extremely proud of their achievements at the TORTOUR 2021”.

Supreme Discipline
It is difficult to single out certain achievements among all these great ones. However, those who conquer the ULTRA distance of more than 1,000 kilometres as a solo rider deserve special mention in a highlight report. . Herbert Zahner with 34 hours and Fabienne Tinguely with a little over 45 hours were the fastest to complete the supreme discipline. Understandably, the muscles had to be loosened in between.

Innovations
Two new features were also introduced at this year’s TORTOUR. Firstly, there was the digital prologue on spinning bikes. A spectacle that the TORTOUR had never seen before. The riders were able to pedal on the Kalanderplatz in front of an audience and were loudly cheered on by their crews. With the Team-Time-Trial a new category was introduced on the SPRINT distance. A format that requires perfect teamwork.

Thank you!
In addition to the outstanding athletes, one must never forget that the crews in the background make an essential contribution. Without them, none of this would be possible! Just as little would a TORTOUR be possible without volunteers, motomarshalls or partners. “I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has made TORTOUR 2021 possible and who invests their time in this great race,” says Patrick Müller.

Clear the stage for lots of female power!

Priska Dörig, from Cycling Team Ost, will be competing in the 500 solo category this year. Priska is a TORTOUR "repeat offender", as she completed the 250 solo last year. Anyone who thinks Priska has a long history in cycling is mistaken. She has only been cycling or...
